Top Luxury Cars - This Year Top 5 Convertibles

1. VW Beetle Cabriolet: This revived classic has been a huge hit since it was re-introduced to the car market. The cabriolet version was launched in 2003 and has been particularly popular among female motorists. Its retro styling and funky curves have made it 'the car to be seen in' during the summer months.

2. BMW Z4: A brand new Z4 has just been launched and it has proved that BMW are definitely at the top of their game. It is slightly bigger than the previous version with stronger masculine lines that ensure that heads are turned as it zooms by. The Z4 replaced the popular Z3 back in 2002 and has proved to be a more than adequate replacement. In fact, it has learnt from some of the design flaws found in the Z3 - which were to do with the suspension and chassis - to ensure that this car meets the highest criteria. The Z4 is one of the best-looking convertibles on the market.

3. Mini Convertible: Like Volkswagen did with the Beetle, MINI also revived another classic to great success. The MINI Convertible was launched into the car market in 2005 - available in MINI One, MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S specifications. The MINI Convertible kind of has the same appeal as the Beetle in that it offers you retro and classic styling - perfect for cruising around in the sunshine.

4. Mazda MX-5: The Mazda MX-5 is, simply put - Britain's best-loved sports car. It has been around since 1990 which proves that it has timeless appeal. It is stylish, sporty and affordable which offers motorists great value for money and has ensured that it has remained in production for such a long time.

During its reign we have seen three generations of MX-5. The first generation was available to motorists in Europe back in 1990 and proved an instant hit. The second generation was introduced in 1999 and featured a much more powerful engine. The third generation was then brought out in 2006 and just this year has seen a major facelift. This facelift has brought about major changes to the styling of the MX-5 - there are new headlights and large front grille which make the new MX-5 seem more aggressive and sporty - this sports car now means business.

5. Audi TT: When the Audi TT was launched in 1999 it proved an instant hit in the sports car market. Its iconic styling is unlike any other car on the road and has seen it win many prizes, including, 'Autobild - Most Beautiful Car' and 'World Design Car of the Year 2007'. The first generation was built on the same engine used in the Volkswagen Golf Mk 4 which ensured it had adequate power. Production on the second generation Audi TT commenced in 2006. The new Audi TT featured more angular styling and an improved rear-spoiler. The latest generation is available in both a Coupe and a Roadster - and continues to be a popular choice among those looking for a convertible.
